The Thing on the Mountain
A group of British POWs are forced by their German captors to build a bridge across the river Kapati, but Seagoon escapes and is ordered to destroy the bridge.
This episode was based on the movie of The Bridge on the River Kwai, which had just been released on December 14, 1957. The movie is set in a Japanese POW camp in World War II, rather than a German one in World War I, but otherwise the plot of the episode follows the movie very closely. Colonel Spon is performed as an impression of Alec Guinness, who played the equivalent role in the movie.
