Synopsis Edit

Leaving a party, Captain Seagoon discovers the body of a German soldier has washed ahore. In the German's boot is a roll of microfilm which turns out to contain plans of a new superweapon. The plans are taken to Woolwich Arsenal so the weapon can be built. When completed, it turns out to be a barrel organ.

Background Edit

The Man Who Never Was was a book by Lt. Cmdr. Ewan Montagu, published in 1953, detailing the true-life story of "Operation Mincemeat". In 1943, the Allies planned to retake Sicily. To misdirect the Germans, Operation Mincemeat arranged for a dead body disguised as the fictitious "Captain (Acting Major) William Martin", in posession of highly classified papers describing an imminent invasion of Greece instead, to wash ashore as though having drowned after a plane crash where a German agent would be able to find the plans.
